Tutorial on how to make these tarts
SERVINGS: 9 TARTS
PREP TIME: 20 MINUTES
COOK TIME: 20 MINUTES
PASSIVE TIME: 1 HOUR 10 MINUTES
Ingredients for tart shells:
⅓ cup softened unsalted butter (75gr)
2 tbsp sugar
1 room temperature egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all purpose flour (130 gr)
Instructions for tart shells:
In a large bowl, add in butter & sugar and mix it with a spatula
Next in the same bowl, add the yolk, vanilla extract and mix everything together
Mix in the flour into the bowl of wet ingredients and bring everything together into a dough
Place it on a cling film, flattening it a bit, wrap it and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes depending on how manageable it is
Take a piece of dough & press it evenly into a 2.5 inch (6.5 cm) tart mould. Cut off excess dough with a knife. Using a fork, prick the base so that it doesn't puff up while baking. Repeat the same with the rest of the dough
Place them on a baking tray & place it in the freezer for 10 minutes
Bake in a preheated oven at 340ºF (170ºC) on the lowest rack for 20 minutes
Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely. Once cooled, remove the shells from the moulds by flipping them and tapping a bit on the back of the back of the base to help releasing them
Set aside & get ready to make the chocolate fillings
----
Ingredients for chocolate filling:
4 oz chocolate of your preferred choice (110g)
½ cup heavy cream (125ml)
Instructions for chocolate filling:
Chop the chocolate into small chunks and put them into a big mixing bowl or a jar (jar makes it convenient to fill the tarts up later)
In a pot, pour the heavy cream into the pot and heat it up on a stove top until you see bubble start appearing around the edges (don't let it boil)
Pour immediately into the mixing bowl / jar that the chocolate chunks are in & let it sit for approximately 3 minutes
using a whisk or a mixing spatula, stir them together until the texture is smooth
----
Toppings (can be of your preferred choice)
Flaked Almonds
Instructions to assemble the tart:
Pour the chocolate filling into the tart shells
Sprinkle some flaked almonds in the chocolate fillings or decorate them however you like them to look
Place it in the fridge for approximately 30 minutes or until the chocolate fillings are hard
It's now ready to be served!
----
Reminder:
You may make the shells a day before and finish off with the filling the next day when you want to serve
Keep the shells or ready made chocolate tarts in an air tight container
----
Overall, these chocolate tarts are a must try! With these simple ingredients and steps, you'll be able to enjoy homemade chocolate tarts of your preferred choice 😻
